Buildings Associated With Members of St. John’s Lodge No. 21
18 Roberts Street was built circa 1905 by John Stewart, a Past Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 21, who used the building for his business as a notary public, real estate agent and insurance agent. John Stewart also served as a Justice of the Peace, Ladysmith’s first City Clerk, City Magistrate and Secretary of the Board of Trade (now the Chamber of Commerce).
It was placed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places in 2014.
The Canadian Register of Historic Places refers to 18 Roberts Street as the “Music Hall”, which was name of the business (a restaurant) which occupied the building when 18 Roberts Street was placed on the Canadian Register of Historic Places in 2014. The building is now occupied by the Maya Norte restaurant.
