Buildings Associated With St. John’s Lodge No. 21 Members
341 1st Avenue in Ladysmith was built in 1910 as a commercial building with residential apartments on the second floor. It still retains that configuration.
In the 1920’s and 1930’s 341 1st Avenue housed the Lowe’s Garage, operated by St. John’s Lodge No. 21 member Ira Eugene Lowe (died 1947, aged 69). At that time, 1st Avenue in Ladysmith was part of the Island Highway so it made sense to have automobile related businesses like Lowe’s Garage located on 1st Avenue.
