641 Third Avenue in Ladysmith, B.C. was built in 1903 by architects Thomas Hooper and C. Elwood Watkins for John W. Coburn (1850-1939), the first Mayor of Ladysmith, B.C.
John W. Coburn was a member of St. John’s Lodge No. 21 and Ashlar Lodge No. 3 in Nanaimo.
